Preschool Days

Joey is having such a great time in preschool and he is learning so much. He comes home singing a new song daily and we've changed the dinner-time grace that we say so that he can say his school prayer. Every day when we come back home, we immediately go out to the back patio to empty his shoes of the sandbox that he brought home! I'm so proud of how well Joey is doing. His teachers say that he participates in everything. Every Tuesday his class has music class and they learn new songs and every Thursday, they have gym so they can learn to be physically fit :)

Recently, Joey's class hosted a Mom's Tea after school. All of the moms came to class and met their child (Abi stayed in the nursery) and we sat on the rug with the kids while they demonstrated their morning routine for us. They start with a prayer for a good day, say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing "You're A Grand Old Flag," sing about the weather (Joey was weather helper that day and led the song), sing about the day of the week and then sing a bunch of silly songs. They even learned a song called "My Mom's Special" and sang it for us... aw! Then the kids presented us with cookies they had decorated (one for the kid and one for the mom). Although, none of the moms actually got to sample the cookies as each kid was especially hungry that day and ate both cookies... little piggies!

The following week, the kids hosted Father's Night for their dads. Dave and Joey ate an early dinner and went to school. They went through the same routine that they went through with the moms, except that the dads were faster than the moms and actually got to eat their cookies! We both loved seeing Joey at school and meeting the other kids and their parents. He's made a lot of friends and is maturing a lot.

Next week, I'll go to parent-teacher conferences (yes, he's only in preschool) and I'll have more information on what he's learning. For now, our pantry door continues to be covered with his school art projects and our ears are entertained by his constant songs!
