Christmas in Michigan!

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas... That's what we had for Christmas 2009. Well, sort of. It was a bit rainy on Christmas day, but never mind. We had a wonderful trip to visit family and friends! After 2 days in the car, we arrived safely in Dearborn on the Sunday before Christmas. And so began the whirlwind of Christmas with 2 young kids!

Abi opened lots of belated birthday gifts. It was the perfect primer for Christmas morning! Ha ha!

A few days before Christmas, we made our 2nd Annual Gingerbread house! Last year's was actually a train, so we did a house this year. It came out great, considering how many candies were eaten in the process.

The 2nd Annual Gingerbread house -- it didn't collapse this year! It only leaned a little :)

Christmas festivities were aplenty and we shared 4 Christmas meals with our families. It was so wonderful to see everyone and the kids got more than their fair share of gifts!

And now, not so nice. Ha ha!

Christmas morning. Notice, Joey has ditched Dave opening his clothes for him and is in search of toy-shaped boxes!

Abi with Aunt Nancy's dog, Pogo. She LOVED him and called him "Cogo". I don't think the feelings were mutual.

Many of the Kilmers came in town to visit the day after Christmas. It was great seeing everyone.

As you can see, we had many a family dinner. Our evenings were filled with good food and conversation. Our days were filled with lots of fun events too... we started with a trip to visit the jolly old elf at Fairlane Mall. Joey asked for "Cars" blocks and Abi asked for a Cabbage Patch Doll. Santa listened to both of them and decided that since they were good, he would bring them those gifts. They love them!

After our visit with Santa, we took the kids to see their first movie in a theater. "The Princess and The Frog" captured their attention for an hour and a half and it kept all of us laughing. What a great movie! Abi cried when it was over, "Princess! Frog! Princess! Frog! Nnnnoooooo!"

Dave and his family took the kids to The Henry Ford Museum on Christmas Eve to see the Lego exhibit (I stayed behind to help my mom cook). They all had a great time checking out the Legos and everything else the museum has to offer!

"Oh I wish I was an Oscar Mayer wiener, 'cause that is what I really want to be..."

After Christmas, Daddy and the Papas took Joey to the Hudson Museum, where they had lots of old, rare cars. They let Joey loose with the camera and this is what he came up with...

After the museum, the guys grabbed a burger at Miller's. I'm so jealous!

The girls had a great day too though. My mom, Lisa, Abi and I all went shopping for Lisa's wedding dress. Abigail was in princess heaven! And Lisa was gorgeous in every gown she tried on. We're all so excited for her big day in 2011. No pics of the dresses though... just in case Brett reads the blog! Hee hee!

On Sunday, we got to visit St. Albert the Great and all of our church family. It was so great to be back there! The church is undergoing constant renovations and improvements and it's fun to see what they've been working on since we were there last June. It's looking beautiful!

And finally on Monday, we had dinner with our friends. Finally able to squeeze a meal in between all of the holiday festivities. I can't even tell you how much we miss our friends and how nice it was to share a pizza (or a few pizzas!). The kids had a great time and had conversations between themselves like not even a day had passed since they last saw each other!

And then on Tuesday, we packed the car (a little tighter than on the way North) and headed back for the South. Where by the way, we were greeted with winter weather. Boooo.

Hope y'all had as good of a Christmas as we did! Happy 2010!
