The Christmas preparations are underway at the Smith house! Tomorrow is Abigail's birthday and since we had her party this past weekend, we'll celebrate at home. After that, all focus turns to the "most wonderful time of the year." Last night, the kids sat in front of the Christmas tree and we took 23 photos, trying to get the perfect photo for our Christmas card! This is what many of them looked like:
Cute, but not Christmas card worthy. Finally, we scrapped the picture with just the kids and Dave and I joined in the fun. But you'll have to wait until your Christmas card arrives to see the final product!
Dave's Grandma Capehart-Kilmer has made beautiful Santa cookies for years. Last year, she gave me a set of the cookie molds and instructions to make some of our very own. Here's this year's batch:
Every Santa has his own expression… some look happy, some look angry and some look just plain nuts! They made great party favors for Abigail's birthday party. The kids loved them… one friend lovingly called it her "bag of food". Too cute.
The Christmas shopping is 90% done, the Christmas decorations are up (including 2 trees – one in the family room with our fun ornaments and one in the living room with our angel ornaments) and the drive to Michigan is planned. We even had a taste of snow here in Louisiana this weekend… 2 years in a row!
We're getting there… 18 days until the big red guy comes down the chimney (at Nana and Papa's house!).
