Joey's time as a preschooler is coming to a close. He only has two more days of school next week and his Spring Program was this morning. He and his classmates sang their sweet little hearts out! We were a little worried beforehand because Joey had ants in his pants during the Christmas Program and had a teacher standing with him the whole time. Typical four-year-old behavior, I know, but doesn't make for the Kodak moment that we all wish for. But today he was a totally different child! So proud to stand up on the stage and sing with his friends. He sang every word and performed every hand motion with a smile! We're so proud of him!
The program was a combination of Bible songs and songs about the great state of Louisiana. It was so cute! Abi was excited to see her big brother in the spotlight and wanted to join him... then she got over it and wanted a cookie in the lounge.
Here's a video of Joey's favorite song from the program, "Down By The Bay." He thinks it's silly. By the way, if you don't know my boy, he's in the red shirt on the bottom left... the animated kid who bows at the end:
And my favorite, "Come and Get It." It's all about Louisiana cuisine... yummy! This one's kind of long...
If you couldn't understand the words: Monday - Red Beans, Tuesday - Po-Boys, Wednesday - Gumbo, Thursday - Jambalaya, Friday - Catfish, Saturday - Crawfish, Sunday - Beinets... all you lucky children, come and eat it up!
And finally, a song that makes this town proud! Don't miss the bow at the end, Joey!
No end of year festivities would be complete without a photo with Joey's teachers. He had a great year with wonderful and patient teachers!
Joey was such a good boy during the program that he got to bring the class monkey "Bananas" home for the weekend (the fuzzy guy in the photo). We'll chronicle Joey's adventures with "Bananas" this weekend and write in his journal and send him back to school on Monday. "Bananas'" weekend with Joey started right after the program by making a trip to the library to get a "Curious George" book to share with "Bananas" and then to McDonald's for lunch. "Bananas" loves the slides in the playland at McDonald's!
We're so proud of Joey and the great day and the awesome year that he had in preschool. Kindergarten is right around the corner!
