Nastics!

Abi is my fearless child, always tumbling, jumping and running.  She's now 2 1/2 years old and since we decided not to put her in preschool yet, we needed an activity for her.  Ballet, soccer tots, Toddlearn?  She would love all of those.  But gymnastics (or "nastics" as Abi calls it) seemed like just the thing for Abi.

What do you think?  Is gymnastics the right choice for this crazy kid?
So we signed her up and she started gymnastics "mommy and me" classes in August.  Her teacher is Ms. Stephanie and she coordinates the activities, but a lot of the class activities are assisted by the parents.

Its fun to watch her learn and grow.  She's gaining so many new skills.  While she's my adventurous kid, she is not the most coordinated, so gymnastics will definitely change that for her.  Abi's favorite activity is hanging from the bar "like a monkey".  That's what she talks about all week, "I go to nastics and be a monkey.  Ooo ooo aaa aaa!"  She also loves swinging from the rings, jumping on the tumble track (a long trampoline), jumping into "the pit" and doing FLIPS (yikes!) on the low bar with Ms. Stephanie.

In "the pit."  It takes a lot of strength to dig out of there... this kid has muscles!

Climbing...

Made it!
Swinging from the rings

Do you think we made the right choice in activity for Abi?  Haha.  She probably would have loved anything... especially ballet.  But she is thrilled to go to gymnastics every week and asks every day if it's Tuesday yet.  Her class will end in December and in January, she will be old enough for the class that is completely guided by the teacher and I'll have to sit in the gallery and watch.  So for now, I'm enjoying the time with her and the opportunity to teach her new things that she absolutely loves!

What's next?  Maybe fashion designing?

Had to add that one in here.  She thinks she's "Fancy Nancy."
